After securing nearly $100 million (Rs. 635 crore) in funding from Japan’s Softbank earlier this month, budget hotel aggregator OYO Rooms is in the news again with its touching YouTube video on the eve of India’s 68th Independence Day. The brand seems to have struck a rhythm in innovative emotional storytelling with its series of back-to-back videos, first on father’s day, followed by the latest aimed at independence day.
The video which unites bollywood stalwarts Manoj Bajpai and Raveena Tandon after more than a decade, portrays a fictional story of a middle-class Indian couple riding through the streets of India in a pre-independence era. As with their earlier video during father’s day, this video also doesn’t directly try to promote OYO rooms and instead tries to position the brand as an innovator in a free country. The video ends with a call-to-action to participate in the social media movement #Azaadi4me, where users have to share a picture of what freedom means to them.
Twitter is abuzz with tweets by celebrities as well as the brand creating awareness of the #Azaadi4Me movement.

While the video has just been released, we feel that it will be a potential winner as it touches the core subject of freedom in a different way. Take a look at the video and tell us your take on it.
